Routines
i wanted to write about what using these products actually looks like in practice, because product descriptions and ingredient lists can only take you so far. at some point, the question is just: what do i actually do with these in the shower?
here's my routine. it takes about three minutes.
i keep all three bottles on the shelf in my shower. the argan shampoo and the clay shampoo are next to each other. the shower gel is to the right. i don't use both shampoos every time — i pick one based on what my hair needs that day.
if my hair feels dry, rough, or a bit lifeless — which for me is most days, especially in winter or after being outside in city air — i reach for the argan shampoo. the coconut-almond-cedar scent is the first thing i notice. it's warm and settling. the lather is dense and creamy, not big and bubbly. i work it through my hair and let it sit for about thirty seconds. that's enough time for the argan oil and shea butter to do their work. then i rinse. no repeat. one wash is enough with these surfactants.
if my hair feels oily at the roots, or if i've been using dry shampoo or styling products for a few days and things feel heavy, i go for the clay shampoo instead. the grapefruit-rosemary-vetiver scent is brighter and more clearing. the lather has a slightly different feel — still creamy, but with a faint grittiness from the clay that tells you it's working on the scalp. i focus this one on the roots and scalp rather than the lengths of my hair. the clay absorbs the excess oil, the kaolin lifts the buildup, and the result after rinsing is that my hair feels lighter and has more body. there's a visible lift at the roots that you can feel immediately.
some days i alternate — clay shampoo one wash, argan shampoo the next. the two shampoos share the same SCI surfactant base, so they work well together. one clarifies, the other nourishes. they're designed as partners, not competitors.
then the shower gel. the cucumber-papaya-vanilla scent is the lightest of the three. i use this every day regardless of which shampoo i chose. a small amount on my hands or a loofah — it lathers gently and rinses clean. the centella asiatica in the formula is what distinguishes this from a generic body wash. my skin feels comfortable after rinsing, not tight or dry. the scent is there for the thirty seconds i'm using it, and then it's gone. it doesn't compete with whatever i wear afterward.
total time: about three minutes. no conditioner (the argan and shea in the shampoo handle conditioning for my hair type — if you have very long or very thick hair, you might want a separate conditioner, and we'll probably make one eventually). no hair mask. no scalp scrub. no multi-step body care ritual. just three products used simply.
after drying off, my hair feels soft and has a natural texture. not the slick, weighed-down feeling of silicone-coated hair. not the stiff, stripped feeling of a sulfate wash. just comfortable. my skin feels hydrated, not coated.
that's what we designed for. not a spa experience or a clinical treatment. just a better version of something you already do every day. your shower, made marginally but noticeably better by products that were formulated with more care than most.
three products. three minutes. nothing complicated.
